About
What We Do
A Partner On Your
Life Journey.
We're a financial planning firm that's been helping people prepare for and live through retirement since 1988. Our practice is built around one central idea: when you're making decisions about your financial future, you should understand what you're doing and why you're doing it. That means taking time to explain things, building plans together, and making sure you're comfortable before moving forward.
The firm was founded in 1988 and named after historian Thomas Carlyle, whose work emphasized the importance of understanding the past to make better decisions about the future.
About Us
Our History
Carlyle Wealth Management was founded by Sharon and David Budnik in 1988. Alan Anderson joined the practice in 2007, took over management in 2015, and became the owner in 2018. Because he'd been working directly with clients for years before the ownership transition, the relationships continued naturally. Most of our clients come through referrals from people we already serve.
How We Work
A Partner On Your
Life Journey.
We start by listening. Before we can recommend anything, we have to understand where you are now, what you are trying to accomplish, and what concerns you have about the future. Then we build a proposal and review it together, making sure you understand each component and why it is part of the plan.
Our meetings often include your family members - adult children, heirs, or anyone else who might be affected by your financial decisions. We encourage these joint meetings because we have seen how valuable it is when everyone understands the plan and knows who to contact when needed. These conversations can be difficult, but having them sooner makes things easier for everyone later.
We are not running marketing campaigns or trying to grow quickly. The practice operates on referrals because the people we work with tell others about their experience. That only happens if we are actually helpful and people find value in our services.
About Us
What Guides Us
Honesty and integrity are not marketing terms here. They are practical requirements. If something does not make sense for your situation, we will tell you. If there is a risk or a tradeoff you should understand before making a decision, we will walk through it clearly. If we do not know something, we will find out or connect you with someone who does know.
The financial planning process involves ongoing education. Tax laws change, your life circumstances change, and the strategies that made sense five years ago might need adjustment today. We build proposals based on what we know at the time, review them with you until you're comfortable, and adapt as needed. You are part of this process, not a spectator.
